Alexander Haas

Alexander Haas is a triathlete and is specialized in XTERRA. He competed his first XTERRA in Germany at the Titisee in the Black Forest. Alex raced the sprint distance and finished surprisingly 2nd overall in 2006. In 2007 he was able to start the original XTERRA course. Since then, Alex was able to win continuously the German Championship title in his age group and is now five time German Champion.

In 2008 Alex raced his XTERRA World Champs at Maui. Unfortunately he’s had a flat tire and had to spend few minutes to repair it. He finished 23rd at the age of 19 years. One year later he competed at the Worlds again and won in his category for the first time. In 2010 Alex lived a half a year at Australia to improve his mountainbike skills. The following races in Europe were amazing. Alex could easily follow former XTERRA World and European Champs at the technical bike courses. He finished 12th overall at the race in Czech Republic, 9th in Germany, which was the European Championship and 8th in Switzerland.

XTERRA World Champs 2011 at Maui:
Only 10 days before departure to Maui, Haas had a bad bike accident while training. He suffered a big concussion and had to stay in hospital for 3 days. Nevertheless Haas recovered very quickly and started do some light training before he took off for the big journey from Germany to Maui. The result: Alex placed an impressive 12th overall, which is the new record for an amateurs place in the PRO field at the XTERRA World Championship. Alex finished in 2:33:37, only17 seconds behind Olympic gold medalist Jan Frodeno, and 20 seconds ahead of former XTERRA World Champ Nico Lebrun.

Alex Haas will start as an XTERRA professional in 2012. He will compete all races at the XTERRA Europeantour with races in Italy, France, Czech Republic, Germany and Switzerland. The highlight of his season is the XTERRA World Championship at Kapalua in Maui.
