Christine Jeffrey
Professional Triathlete/X-Terra Off-Road Triathlete
Christine has had an interesting path in finding her love of mountain biking. At age 5 she jumped in a pool and didn’t get out!
She became a member of the Canadian National Swim Team from 1988-1994 and competed at the 1989 & 1993 Pan-Pacific Games in Japan, the 1990 World Final Cup in Rome, and the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria BC where she placed 8th in the 400IM. She then headed to Arizona and swam for Arizona State University becoming a 4-year, NCAA All-American and earned 4 individual Pac-10 titles and took 3rd in the 400IM at the 1993 & 1994 NCAA Swimming Championships.
Her achievements in athletics poured over into academics where she was:
- Outstanding student graduate (School of Landscape Architecture – 1996)
- Outstanding student graduate (College of Architecture – 1996)
- Top Female Student Athlete Graduate (1996)
- Heather Farr Award for Top Female Student Athlete (1997)
Christine took a break from competing and used her talent in Landscape Architecture before she was “wooed” back into training by a group of triathletes. She raced her first triathlon in 1998 and competed as an amateur for 3 years before turning professional in 2001. For 6 years she focused on the ITU World Cup Triathlon circuit, competing in World Cups and Continental Cups around the world and won the ITU Continental Cup races in Ixtapa in 2004 and Villarrica in 2007 and represented Canada at the 2002 ITU Elite World Championships.
In 1996 she fell for mountain biking and Xterra Off-Road Triathlon after returning to her native Canada. Christine has placed in the top 10 several times at the Xterra World Championships in Hawaii and as one of Christine’s sponsors (and fans!) we are going to be cheering her in the years to come!
