6x Ironman Champion

Timo was a skier, tennis player and football (soccer) player long before he became one of the world’s top triathletes. In fact, Timo did not compete in his first triathlon until 1993 in Schwaigern (Ba-Wü).

This determined competitor from Eberbach, Germany, races worldwide and his hunger for the top of the podium keeps his training fine-tuned and on track for his favorite event, “The one and only” Ironman Hawaii.

His latest win was in Lanzarote in May, 2011 where his time of 8:30:34 shattered the old course record by more than 5 minutes. At the end of last season Timo also completed Ironman Arizona in 8:07:16 and blew away the competition by more than six minutes while setting a new course record. We would like to think that Extreme Endurance was the only reason for the win in Arizona but it might have been the Ahi Tuna he had prior to this race in the desert!

If you were to ask Timo his favorite race, favorite event memory, he would tell you it was his second win at the 2009 Ironman European Championships in Frankfurt. “I raced close with Macca the whole day and we had an incredible finish. In the end I caught first Macca, then Eneko Llanos. I just believed in myself and felt no pain, only pure running. This was one of the magic moments in sports when I crossed that finish line first with a time under eight hours.” We should also mention that Timo ran a “blazing” 2:43 marathon split to set a new course record of 7:59:15.

Update ** We are extremely proud of Timo’s recent performance at 2011 Ironman Hawaii where he managed a career best at Kona of 5th overall in 8:20 w/ the 3rd fastest run of the day. Says Timo “I can’t say that I’m happy because the race was not worth a fifth place”, a completely exhausted Bracht said. “Swimming and cycling were not as good as I expected. I hardly can imagine what might have been possible with a little bit better swim and bike” Well done, Timo !
