6 Tips to avoid getting sick!
It's that time of year again - the holidays, dropping temps, and end of the year high stress are the makings of a recipe for immune suppression. While we cannot eliminate getting a cold or the flu entirely, there are measures we can take to help potentially prevent getting sick, or worse, spreading it to others! Check out these 6 simple tips to help keep you a little safer this cold and flu season!
  1. Wash your hands, and do it often! Wash your hands with soap and water, and then follow up with an alcohol based hand sanitizer for added protection. Wash your hands before and after eating, working out, and visiting public places like the grocery store, bank, restrooms etc.

  2. Clean your cell phone. Cell phones go with us everywhere; They come in contact with our hands, face, back pocket...you get the picture. According to USA Today our smartphones are 7 times dirtier than a toilet seat. Yuck. To clean your phone mix rubbing alcohol with distilled water and pour into a small spray bottle. Spray the mixture onto your phone and wipe away with a microfiber towel.

  3. Strengthen your Immune System. Keep your immune system in check by exercising regularly and eating plenty of fruits and vegetables. If veggies aren’t your thing or you think your diet does not contain enough micronutrients, supplement with a multivitamin like Immune Boost.

  4. Get enough Sleep. According to the Mayo Clinic, lack of sleep can hinder your immune system. The immune system releases cytokines during sleep. An increase in certain cytokines is needed during times of stress, inflammation, and infection. Lack of sleep may decrease the production of these important cytokines. Infection fighting antibodies and cells can also be reduced when you don’t get enough sleep, making it harder to fight off a cold.

  5. Bring your own pen. I have been guilty of going a little overboard and labeling my pens with my name. People do strange things with pens like chew them, scratch with them, and who knows what else! Bring your own pen, just trust me on this one.

  6. Avoid children. I’m kidding. Kids are more prone to getting sick, especially if they are in school or go to group classes, daycare, or team activities. Teach your children healthy hand washing and sneezing etiquette. Wash their lunch boxes and backpacks regularly. Once kids get home have them change out of their school clothes or uniforms to take care of unwanted germs.

We hope this was helpful. Stay safe and healthy out there.
